Post updates

In the last month I have gotten many more followers (145 total) that probably have no clue there are articles at the bottom of my 60Trip blog so I decided to take these two articles and make them into videos.
So, here is an 'Intro to trip' video and also a 'Previous trips' I have taken video.

YouTube Videos

Time is getting short for the start of my trip, and hopefully this will be my last post to ask for your help. For many of you, you may not know this but on my trip, I plan on meeting people along the way, and videotaping an interview and then post them on YouTube. I hope to post one a week, stretching them out for at least a year.

For some of these, the meeting of these people will just be random meetings. Standing behind someone in the convenience store line. Sitting beside them in a pizza place.

But here is where I want your help. Are there certain characters that if I meet, or can search out for, that you would certainly want me to interview? Such as a barber who has cut hair at the same location for 50 years. Or a ditch digger. Or a small town librarian. Or what ever you do for a living, or used to do.

So, followers, get creative and send me some ideas. Not that I can promise to fulfill each one of them, but I will try.

So, either send me your comments to sixtytrip@juno.com or go to the blog at 60trip.blogspot.com and click on the 'comment' or 'no comment' button on this article.

Later, (but now much sooner) David

Ps, if you have more than one idea, send me 38 or them.....or maybe just 2.

Trip Fundraisers

Dear Sixty Trip Followers,

When I first announced my upcoming walk across Tennessee months ago, several  people asked me if I was doing this as a fundraiser. My answer initially was ‘no’, but the more I thought about it, I didn’t want to waste a trip just in case I was able to help some that truly need help.  So, though my walk is not officially a fundraiser, I do ask that every one of you please consider at least helping out.

So, I will briefly summarize each and show how each can be reached. All three have one thing in common, a strong desire in their ministry to follow biblical standards and to be as Christ centered as possible.

Compassion International and World Orphans are two ministries whose goals are to help orphans in the poorest areas of the world by pairing them with churches in countries around the world.

www.actforcompassion.com/60trip   (As I spoke to a man named Nenio at Compassion who helped me set up this account, he shared with me that he was sponsored for 12 years by Compassion Int. and was led to be a follower of Jesus by this ministry and is now pasturing a church in the Phillipines.)

If people would like to give by check please have them make it them out to World Orphans and put "David's 60 Trip Campaign" on the memo.

The third ministry I have picked is one I have been personally involved in for 12 years now as a volunteer speaker. It is Voice of the Martyrs. It was started when founder, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, a Romanian pastor, was arrested shortly after WW2 just because he was a Christian leader and was imprisoned for 3 times for a total of 14 years. He was tortured and isolated for much of this time. After arriving in the US, Richard and his wife, Sabina started VOM as a support and prayer ministry to all Christians around the world who are being persecuted, harassed, imprisoned, and killed for their Christian faith.

VOM provides funds for people whose spouses are either in jail or prison and are not able to get a job within a territory that has a Christian minority population. Many times, after attacks and bombings of Christian churches and homes, injured Christians are left outside of Emergency Rooms to die because the hospital leaders will not allow admittance of Christians. VOM Medical travels the world to help put these people’s lives back together again. Also, VOM provides Bibles by the hundreds of thousands all over the world, and also seminary training for new believers.

To contact VOM, simply call Barbara Matlock at 918-337-8015 and tell her you want to donate to David’s ‘60trip’.  To learn more about VOM, go to www.persecution.com .

Please consider contacting one or all three of these ministries and give what you can. David

ps. I am not asking any of you to donate any certain amount, if any. But if you are touched by any of these needs, you may want to consider a 'per mile' pledge. I will be roughly walking 130 miles across Tenn. so you may consider $.10 a mile, $1.00 a mile. $10,000 a mile, or simply donate $10, or $25, etc. But don't feel that you have to do this in any way.

Practice photos and videos

Here are just s few photos that I am using to practice placing them on my blog. Well, the video didn't work. I will try something different later.

This is a beautiful Cade's Cove river here in Blount County

Here is a nice sunrise when I was walking one day.
And, here is my Traveling Buddy, Smoky, that will be going along with me

Please, if you don't see a picture of a river, a sunrise, and a carved bear, please leave me a comment at 60trip.blogspot.com and click on this post where it either says 2 comments, 14 comments, or even says no comments.
